Since it is very tiring to write longer texts on a touchscreen keyboard, you can connect your Android device to a Bluetooth keyboard. So you have a real keyboard under your fingers, on which you can type much faster and more correctly. You can also see more on the display of the Android smartphone or tablet since no keyboard has to be shown.
Link Android and Bluetooth keyboard - Here's how
Before using it for the first time, you must register your Bluetooth keyboard on the Android device. You set up this connection in the settings of the smartphone or tablet.
- Open the settings of the Android device and navigate to "Bluetooth".
- Activate Bluetooth.
- Turn on your keyboard and press the button to connect. You can find out where it is in the operating instructions for the Bluetooth keyboard.
- On the Android device, tap "Search for devices". Select your keyboard from the list of devices found.
- You may now have to enter a number combination on the keyboard, which you confirm with [Enter].
- The connection is established - you can now enter all texts with your Bluetooth keyboard.
Register the Bluetooth keyboard on the Android device again
After you have completed this installation, the connection will be established automatically, which will save you a lot of effort. If the Android device or the keyboard was switched off, you only have to consider a few things so that the Bluetooth connection is re-established.
- The connection must have already been successful once.
- Bluetooth must be activated on the smartphone or tablet.
- The Bluetooth keyboard must be switched on. You may need to wake them up from standby by pressing any key.
- The keyboard must not have been connected to another device since the last connection. Otherwise you have to register the keyboard again.
With some Bluetooth keyboards, you can even control the Android device. The [Esc] key then replaces the back button, and [F1] takes you to the home screen. Depending on the keyboard model, there may also be a volume control or email shortcuts - just try a few keys. Here we show how to add a Bluetooth device under Windows.
