Encrypt Box.com - Here's how

If you want to encrypt your files on Box.com, several services are available. We show you how to save your data securely.

Box.com - Encrypt files online

The two free tools from BoxCryptor and CloudFogger currently offer secure encryption of your data. Both use the current security standard "AES 256 Bit".
BoxCryptor also requires a free registration. On request, you can unlock additional functions with a paid subscription.
Both services work pretty similar: the software is installed on the computer, the Box.com folder is converted into a virtual drive. Everything that ends up in this drive is automatically encrypted.

First download BoxCryptor or CloudFogger and install the software.
If you start the tool, the first step is to go to Setup. Select the folder where you synchronize your Box.com files.
In addition, select a letter for the new virtual drive and a secure password. If the password is not really secure, encryption does nothing. More information can be found below in the video.
Once you have completed the setup, you simply have to copy your files into the virtual drive. The files are then encrypted and sent to Box.com.
