If you have not received a letter, it does not mean that the letter has disappeared forever. We'll show you what you can do to make sure the letter arrives.
Letter does not arrive - what to do?
If you have been waiting for a letter for several days, it is rarely a delay. However, the chances of finding the letter again are not too bad.
- You can track your letter for special letters such as registered mail. To use Swiss Post tracking, you need the sender's tracking number.
- If your letter does not arrive after 7 days, you can send a research order. If you enter your contact details and all known data about the letter, Swiss Post will search for the letter. This can take up to 32 days.
Letter still not received: you can do that
- Also contact the sender. Compare the used address with each other. In many cases, a number rotator means that the letter is not delivered.
- The letter may also have been franked incorrectly. It then takes up to two weeks for the letter to reach the sender again.
- In apartment buildings, the letters may be thrown in incorrectly. Ask your neighbors if they accidentally got the letter.
- If the letter still does not arrive after a period of 32 days, ask the sender to send the letter again. If the documents are important, you should do so earlier.
- Regardless of whether it is a standard letter or a registered letter: if the letter does not reach you, the burden of proof lies not with you, but with the sender. Witnesses can serve as evidence that a letter was sent, but a video on which the throw-in is documented is more unambiguous.
