British Airways: WiFi on board - costs & instructions
If you don't want to do without WiFi at British Airways, this is often associated with high costs. We'll show you what British Airways is doing with WiFi and which customers can enjoy the Internet above the clouds.
British Airways: How much does WiFi on board cost?
- The availability of WiFi on British Airways flights is severely limited. The service is only offered in Business Class on flights between London and New York.
- British Airways has also been working on WiFi access for all passengers for several years. This has been available in the first aircraft since 2017. See the next paragraph for more information.
- However, the airline does not cover the cost of WiFi on long-haul flights between London and New York. British Airways only allows access to the Internet. The costs are collected directly from the respective mobile operator. So you sometimes pay up to 10 euros per MB on the plane.
- The speed of the WLAN above the clouds is also not particularly impressive. Only GPRS is offered. To connect to the Internet, you need an international roaming agreement with your mobile operator. This is usually not a standard and must be requested separately. To do this, you need to contact your provider.
British Airways: WiFi for first, business and economy class
- In 2017 British Airways would like to equip the first aircraft with its own WiFi for all passengers. Once on the plane, you can connect to the WiFi and select one of the available pricing models. Payment is made by credit card.
- An hour of WiFi will cost you £ 4.99. You pay £ 10.99 for 4 hours and £ 14.99 for the full flight. Facebook, WhatsApp, emails and Instagram are no problem.
- If you also want to access video services such as YouTube or Netflix, you have to select a higher speed. You pay £ 7.99 for an hour, £ 17.99 for 4 hours and £ 23.99 for a full flight.
