Brother printers: clear paper jams - so it'll work
If there is a paper jam in your Brother printer, you can solve the problem quickly and easily in most cases. We'll show you how to clean even stubborn paper jams.
Clear a paper jam in the Brother printer
If a paper jam occurs in your Brother printer, a message appears on the display and the machine stops printing.
- First disconnect the device from the power. The device should not work while you are working inside the printer.
- If possible, remove the paper feed tray. If you can still feel the paper, simply try to pull it backwards out of the printer.
- If that doesn't work, turn the printer over and open the flap on the back. Now you have access to the area where the paper jam usually occurs.
- If the paper cannot be removed there, there is another way for some models. Open the top cover of your printer and look for another lower cover there. If you remove them, you can pull the paper out of any position.
- When you have completely removed the paper from the Brother printer, you can close the device and connect it to the power.
