Remove Browser Safeguard
The AVG Safeguard virus is also installed via freeware programs. We'll show you how to remove it from your browser.
1. Remove Safeguard Toolbar via Control Panel
Toolbars are often installed unnoticed by freeware programs. The persistent browser malware not only advertise itself, but also redirect you to potentially dangerous sites.
- Therefore, uninstall the toolbar using the control panel: Open it by clicking on the "Windows button".
- Select "Uninstall a program."
- Look for Safeguard in the list of installed programs or sort the programs by the installation date to find the malware.
2. Remove AVG Safeguard virus with AdwCleaner
To check whether there are no other adware programs and unpleasant file remnants on your computer, you should check your PC with the free AdwCleaner:
- After installation, start AdwCleaner and select "Search".
- Then select the files found to uninstall or delete them.
3. Reset the individual browsers
The last thing you have to do is reset your browser to default settings. The virus has manipulated your settings. Click on the respective browser for the corresponding instructions:
- Reset Google Chrome to factory settings
- Reset Mozilla Firefox
- Reset Internet Explorer to default settings
