Fine not paid. What happens now.
If a penalty notice flutters into the house, you have only two alternatives if you want to avoid worse things. You can file an objection or pay the fine. The parking tickets are delivered differently depending on the federal state.
- So it may well be that you do not see the payment request, it is lost or the warning is no longer on the vehicle.
- After the 14-day period has expired, the competent authority sends a request for the money to be warned.
- At the latest you should react and pay. Because this request does not yet contain any reminder fees. In addition to the request, you have the opportunity to express yourself.
- If you think the ticket is unjustified, you should not ignore the enclosed hearing form and fill it out.
- If you miss the deadline and ignore the letters, you will receive a reminder. Now a dunning procedure begins, in which you will have to pay additional costs.
- To avoid further consequences, you should take action now at the latest.
Ignoring a warning for a fine can have serious consequences
If you ignore all notices, it will have serious consequences at some point. The authorities have further measures to express their request. And the reminders are only the slightest evil.
- If you also ignore the orders for payment, an enforcement notice will flutter into the house next.
- This means that the authority has the possibility to enforce unpaid fines until the enforcement period expires. Different regulations apply here, which are regulated in the Civil Code and the Criminal Code.
- Now it can happen that you suddenly get an unwanted visit from the bailiff who wants to enforce the demand of the authority. If you cannot pay the claim, you have the option of making an affidavit.
- However, if you can pay the penalty but decide otherwise and don't pay, the competent authority can threaten you with coercive detention.
- If you have not paid the penalty for the first time, compulsory detention of up to six weeks can be ordered. However, if there is a multiple offense, up to three months are due.
- As you can see, the competent authority has the option of enforcing its request. You can even face prison if you fail to meet the demands.
- However, such measures rarely occur. Usually you do not have to fear serious consequences.
