Burger King, McDonald's, Subway: The most unhealthy products in fast food chains
What are the most unhealthy products at Burger King, McDonald's and Subway? It is generally known that fast food should not appear on the daily menu. But which dishes should you definitely avoid with the relevant chains? We tell you in this article.
Unhealthy products at McDonald's, Burger King and Subway: How to recognize them
Did you know that at McDonald's and Burger King you can see all the nutritional information in the restaurant? How many grams of fat and sugar are contained and of course the calories are on the packaging or on your tray. At Subway you don't have the opportunity to do this on site, but you can also read all the nutritional information about the individual sandwiches on the Internet. By the way, a burger, a sandwich or a portion of fries does not speak against a healthy diet - the variety and, above all, the amount makes the difference.
McDonald's: These are the most unhealthy products
The fast food giant McDonald's has all sorts of dishes that can only be described as healthy to a limited extent:
- The most high-calorie product you can order from McDonald's is the Chicken Box. 12 chicken McNuggets, 6 chicken wings and 3 sauces make it to around 1, 091 calories with 61 grams of fat.
- A single Big Rösti provides you with 821 calories for your daily needs. For comparison: a cheeseburger has 302 calories. So if you eat 2 of these and drink a soft drink, you have consumed as much energy as after eating a big rösti.
- A pack of 20 chicken nuggets has 893 calories. If you eat a sauce, there will of course be a little more.
- A menu with the popular Big Mac, a medium-sized portion of fries, and a cola might be a typical choice if you eat at McDonald's. The menu has a total of 938 calories - that's less than a chicken box.
- The sweets are also not to be underestimated. These contain significantly more sugar than a burger. A biscuit caramel McFlurry has 447 calories, 11 grams of fat and 55 grams of sugar.
- Products that are heavily salted, such as french fries, and products that contain a lot of fat are not only unhealthy because of the high number of calories. The components favor diseases of the cardiovascular system and should therefore rarely be on the menu.
Unhealthy eating at Burger King
The Burger King menu is also not particularly low in calories:
- The most fatty and high-calorie burger you can eat at Burger King is the Double Steakhouse: it contains 1, 047 calories and 67 grams of fat.
- The Bacon King makes second place with 1, 038 calories and 65.5 grams of fat.
- The grilled dogs are bulky too: a hot dog has about 944 calories.
- The chili cheese fries are more of a main meal than a side dish from the nutritional information: 607.8 kilocalories are in one serving.
- The Big King with 485.7 and the Cheeseburger with 278.8 calories and 29 and 12 grams of fat, for example, are significantly lower in calories.
Subway: a healthy alternative?
Folded fresh in front of your eyes, sandwiches, unlike burgers, appear to be a healthier alternative with less fat.
- The following also applies here: It depends on the composition. Oily sauces and double cheese make a sub as rich as a burger.
- The healthiest sub is the BBQ Rib: 503 calories and 20 grams of fat are in a 15-centimeter sandwich. If you eat a 30 centimeter sub, you will get 1, 006 calories.
- The Italian BMT follows at a distance of 394 kilocalories and 16 grams of fat over 15 centimeters.
- Note that depending on the choice of ingredients, the calories may vary. These differ only slightly with salad and vegetables, but can make a big difference especially with cheese and sauces.
