The bus lane is reserved for regular school buses

- No! The bus lane is only intended for regular buses and school buses and must not be used by cars. Not even to shorten it or to extend the turning lane.
- If you still use this marked part of the street, you commit an administrative offense. This is punished with a corresponding fine, which is graded according to the seriousness of the offense.
- The bus lane is marked with a sign - white bus on a blue background (traffic sign 245). In addition, there is a thick solid line between this lane and the other lanes. "BUS" is written on the asphalt on the track itself.
- The same rules apply to touring coaches as to passenger cars.
What do you have to expect in the event of a violation?
If you use the bus lane with your car without authorization, you face the following fine:
- Prohibited driving on the bus lane costs € 15.
- It is € 35 if you hinder the regular service.
- Turn off the bus lane and take the right of way for a straight-ahead bus, you pay € 20.
- You get € 70 and a point for the danger to other road users if you drive over the bus lane.
- If an accident results, you pay a € 85 fine and receive one point.
There are these exceptions
Even if the bus lane is basically only intended for regular service, there are exceptions that the municipalities themselves regulate.
- With appropriate notice, taxis may also use the bus lane. The same applies to bicycles.
- According to the Electromobility Act of 2015, this track can also be released for electric cars.
- With an additional sign, the bus lanes can also be released for normal traffic for a limited time.
- Nevertheless, regular service has priority with these exceptions.
- Emergency vehicles in use also have the right to use the bus lane.
