Enter C with a hook (cedilla) on the keyboard - how it works
The cedilla, the "C with a hook" is actually not used in our language. But it is often used especially for French and Portuguese names and vocabulary. This practical tip shows you how to create this special character on a computer, on a Mac, in latex and in HTML.
C with cedilla - How to write it
There are several ways to add a hook, i.e. a cedilla, to the C:
- It is particularly easy to copy the C from us with cedilla: Ç, ç.
- If your keyboard has a number pad, you can also generate the C with a tick using the key combinations [Alt] + [1] [2] [8] and [Alt] + [1] [3] [5].
- Of course you can also find the Ç and other letters with cedilla in the Windows character table. Depending on the font, there are also over 20 additional letters with cedilla available.

- Mac users can use the key combinations [Shift] + [Alt] + [C] and [Alt] + [C].
- In latex you can create the ç with the command "\ c {c}".
- In HTML, use the "ç" command.
