If the battery in your Canon camera is always empty quickly, the fun of taking pictures may be lost sooner or later. To ensure that this does not happen, we will show you a number of tips that allow longer running times for Canon cameras.
Replace old Canon battery
- Regardless of brand, type and purpose, practically all batteries have a common disadvantage: their performance decreases over time. If you are using an older camera, the problem may lie here.
- The battery of almost all Canon models can be changed easily. So you can simply buy a compatible replacement battery and insert it into the camera.
- Original Canon batteries are usually very expensive. However, there are also a number of third-party manufacturers that offer suitable batteries of comparable quality and at a significantly lower price. A search on Amazon.de or similar portals brings quick results here.
- Tip: It can also make sense to have several batteries for one camera. If a battery is empty, you can easily replace it with the charged replacement battery while on the go.
Buy battery grip for the camera
- Battery handles are available as an accessory for almost every Canon DSLR. They contain additional batteries and are simply screwed onto the bottom of the camera.
- In addition, an additional release button is installed on many battery handles. This enables more comfortable shots in portrait format.
Adjust camera settings
Even with the right settings on the camera, a lot of energy can be saved. Of course, the possibilities vary from model to model. Some examples are the following:
- Reduce the brightness of the built-in display a few levels. Especially if you use the camera in a dark environment, this is more pleasant anyway.
- Activate the automatic shutdown. This way, the battery remains full even if you forget to switch off the camera.
- Use the automatic LCD shutdown. In this case, the screen stays blank, unless you call up a menu or the picture gallery.
