Canon: change printer cartridges - how it works
This guide tells you how to change the cartridges on your Canon printer and what you should consider.
Change cartridges in the Canon printer - so it'll work
If your Canon printer no longer executes your print command or your last print loses quality due to streaks, then you have to change the ink cartridges. The exchange of the respective printer cartridges differs in part from the printer model used. On the "Canon Pixma ip 2200" inkjet printer, we will explain how you can change your printer cartridges and what you should generally note when changing them. To remove the cartridges, do the following:
- Start your printer and then open the protective cover on the front.
- After you have switched on your printer, the printer carriage with the individual printer cartridges will move from a protective position into a suitable expansion position. Do not move the carriage by hand to avoid damaging it.
- In more modern printers, a red light shows you which cartridge needs to be replaced.
- To remove the empty print cartridge from the carriage, all you have to do is gently push the cartridge down in the front area. In the attached picture, the cartridge with the black ink "PG 40" was released from the snap-in mechanism (inclined position). Alternatively, your cartridges can also be attached using a locking mechanism.
- You can then remove the FINE cartridge to the front. Attention: There may be paint residues on the print head of the replaceable cartridges.
Canon: Install printer cartridges
After you have successfully removed your empty cartridge, you can insert a new one. New cartridges are usually sealed airtight to protect them from drying out. Therefore, only open your new printer cartridge immediately before replacing it.
- In addition to the outer protective cover, there is a removable protective film on the ink jet opening for FINE cartridges with an integrated print head. Carefully remove it without touching the printhead.
- Now carefully insert the new cartridge into the carriage and push it upwards until you hear a click. In principle, you only have to reapply the steps you took during the installation.
- As soon as you close the protective cover of your printer or press a button for a successful cartridge change, your Canon printer will carry out an internal test print with the replaced cartridge.
