Canon printer doesn't scan - you can do that
Most Canon printers can do much more than just print. However, if yours does not scan, this may be due, among other things, to the fact that the device is not switched on correctly or the appropriate driver is missing. In this practical tip, we will tell you what you can then do and how you can fix other possible problems.
You can do this if the Canon printer is no longer scanning
- Before you start scanning, make sure your printer is turned on and ready.
- Then check whether your printer is correctly connected to your PC. If you have connected the printer to your PC with a USB cable, you should make sure that the cable is connected correctly and is not defective.
- Alternatively, you can use another USB port on your PC to rule out a possible defect in the USB connection.
- However, a quick remedy can also provide you with a restart of the printer.
Other solutions: Canon printers don't scan
- Many printers can also be connected via WLAN. You should therefore switch on the WLAN function on the printer and check whether it is connected to your PC.
- To do this, go to "Control Panel"> "Printer" and search for your Canon printer. The addition "Ready" must appear there. However, if the addition "Offline" is there, the printer is either switched off or not connected to the PC. If the device is not listed at all, the associated driver is missing.
- You can download tools from the Canon website to connect the PC to the printer via WLAN. The latest drivers can also be found there.
