Canon prints strips - what to do?
If your Canon device prints stripes, we will show you in this practical tip what causes this.
Troubleshoot when the Canon prints stripes
This can be the cause of streaks on your Canon prints:
- If you have new Canon cartridges in stock, test them first to rule out that it is because of the cartridges.
- For Canon printers, you should use original ink. Otherwise the print head can become blocked.
- If the print head is clogged, you can carefully clean the nozzles with isopropanol or distilled water; if necessary, place it in isopropanol overnight and let it dry the next day. There are also special printhead cleaners, and how to remove the printhead from the Canon device is described in the user guide.
- You should not try automatic cleaning via the Canon driver more than twice - this consumes a lot of ink and is therefore expensive.
- If your Canon still prints stripes after cleaning, you can buy a printhead. Please note that the accessories are sometimes more expensive than the printer and that a complete new purchase is at least financially worthwhile.
- If you do not replace an empty cartridge in time, the print head will suffer and print strips. Again, you may need to change the printhead.
- Some printers have a "Maintenance" option in the menu. You can read more about this in an article on tips for printer maintenance.
