In order to create your own picture style for your Canon camera, you need special software. You can find this on the DVD or CD that came with your camera.
Canon PictureStyleEditor
With the software "Canon PictureStyleEditor" you can adapt the camera to your own needs. You can find this on the supplied service DVD.
- Install and start the "Canon PictureStyleEditor".
- Now open a RAW image you took with this camera.
- The "Canon PictureStyleEditor" then recommends the order in which the settings should be made. Follow the guidelines and set everything so that it meets your requirements. You can lighten or darken your image, for example, by adjusting the tonal value curve. The contrast can also be reduced. This is highly recommended, especially for later color processing. The color settings can also be used to switch the image to black and white with a single contrast color.
- Use the button in the top right corner to save the style.
- Then you need the EOS utility to bring the style to your camera: Start the program and select "Remote shooting". Now pretend you want to set a different PictureStyle and choose one of the Custom Styles.
- Select the Custom Style and go to the "Detailed Settings" field in the window that opens.
- In the new window, you can now load your image style from the hard disk using the "Open" field.
This practical tip shows you how to use the EOS Utility.
