Wash cap: This is how sweat stains go out
Caps are a perfect everyday companion when you want to keep it warm or protected from the sun or when you want to keep your hair off your face during sports. We show you how best to wash your cap so that any sweat stains go out again.
How to wash a cap properly
The peak inside a cap can be made of cardboard. This would be damaged if washed in a washing machine. It is therefore advisable to wash your cap by hand.
- Shampoo, liquid soap or detergent can be used for cleaning.
- Moisten your cap or briefly put it in a water bath. Be sure to keep the screen away from the water if necessary.
- Put the preferred detergent on the stain and use a toothbrush to lather the detergent.
- Carefully work on the spot with the sweat stain and prefer longer. So you do not damage the fabric of your cap and still manage to remove the stain.
- Now rinse the detergent with clear water from the fabric of your cap. You can repeat this process until the sweat stain has disappeared.
- To wash the umbrella, just moisten it and proceed as already described.
- To remove the detergent on the cap screen, use a clean cotton cloth.
- Immerse it in water and remove the detergent with the damp cloth. Repeat the process until the fabric is clean and without cleaning residues.
Machine wash the cap
If the cap on your cap is not made of cardboard and the care instructions label says that you can wash the cap in a machine, there are other ways to remove the sweat stains:
- Simply wash your cap in the dishwasher if machine washing is allowed according to the symbols instead of in the washing machine.
- Washing in the dishwasher is gentle on the material and prevents the cap from losing its shape.
- Put the cap in the upper compartment of the dishwasher and switch on the gentle cycle. You can use a cleaning stick. However, do not add too dirty dishes to avoid further stains.
- When washing the cap in the washing machine, it is advisable to put the cap in a laundry net to protect the fabric. Set the lowest cleaning level without a spin cycle. This is how you prevent premature wear of the material.
- Before drying, it is best to put the cap on briefly to get it in shape and bend the visor into place. Then hang them up to dry or lay them flat with the opening facing down.
- Put the wet cap over a bowl or put it on another hat of the same shape to prevent the cap from losing its shape.
