Carrera Digital: Black Box or Control Unit - the differences
The Carrera Control Unit has replaced the Carrera Digital Black Box in recent years. We'll show you the differences between the two models.
Carrera Digital: Control Unit replaces the black box
- The Carrera Control Unit has the connections for the four speed controllers, the wireless tower and takes care of the programming of the digital functions of the train. You can use the buttons to make various settings.
- Work has also been done on the Pacecar function. The position of the pace car can now also be displayed using the position tower. In addition, pit crossings can now also be counted as a lap.
- Also interesting is the innovation in the tank modes. The "Off" and "On" modes are available for both the black box and the control unit. This enables the simulation of fuel consumption to be switched on and off. With the "Real" mode, the tank filling affects the weight and thus the speed of the car.
Black Box and Control Unit: Differences between the Carrera models
- You need the new Control Unit to use the Carrera Driver Display, Carrera Startlights and Carrera Position Towers. The old black box does not support the new devices.
- This means that you can also use the latest start lights and features such as displaying the tank content, laps, pit stops and the current position.
- However, Carrera also thought about backward compatibility. You can connect all old controllers, regardless of whether they are cables or wireless, to the Control Unit.
