CCleaner: Find and delete duplicate files
The CCleaner is a popular optimization tool for Windows and has been able to find duplicate files since version 4. We explain how to do this in this article.

If you have not yet installed the CCleaner on your PC, you can download it from our download area. To find duplicates, do the following:
- Click on the "Tools" tab in the left sidebar (see picture).
- Another bar now opens to the right of the sidebar. Click on "File Finder" (see picture).
Filter duplicate files according to user-defined settings
Once in the "File Finder", you can either leave all settings or checkmarks as they are, or you can make small changes. You've got the following possibilities:
- Filter by name, size and modification date.
- Certain files can be ignored if desired.
- Add or remove drives to search for.
- When you have set everything up to your liking, click on "Search" below. The results are clearly listed.
