Show CD cover in foobar2000 - How it works
This practical tip shows you how to display CD covers in foobar2000.
Install the CD cover window in foobar2000
In foobar2000, an area can be integrated into the user interface in a few steps, in which CD covers of played and marked audio files are displayed.
- Install foobar2000.
- Download Columns UI and unzip it.
- Open foobar2000 and navigate to "File" -> "Preferences" -> "Components". There you can select and install the extracted Columns UI file under "Install ...".
- Navigate in foobar2000 to »View« -> »Layoput« and activate "Live editing".
- Now right-click in the foobar2000 window where you want your covers to be displayed in the future and select "Artwork view".
- A cover window is created in the foobar2000 surface, which you can drag larger and smaller with the mouse.
- If the cover window has the correct size and position, navigate again to "View" -> "Layoput" and deactivate "Live editing".
- Done, the cover window is installed and can now be configured.
- You can also set up multiple cover windows and display the same or different images.
Configure the CD cover window in foobar2000
After the CD cover window is integrated in foobar2000, it can be adjusted as required, for example to display CD covers that are embedded in an MP3. You can also integrate image files from any folder on your hard drive.
- Right-click on a cover window and select under "Artworl type" whether a "Front cover", "Back cover", "Disc cover" or "Artist Picture" should be displayed in this window.
- Now navigate to "File" -> "Preferences" -> "Display" -> "Columns UI" -> "Artwork".
- Select "Embedded and external artwork" under "Built-in foobar2000 reader mode", so that covers can be displayed that are embedded in an MP3, as well as those that are stored as an image file in a folder.
- With a click on "Add" you can select folders and patterns according to which a "Front cover", "Back cover", "Disc cover" or "Artist Picture" should be selected.
- Here you can enter "cover", for example, if you have saved the CD cover as a picture with the name "cover.webp" in the same folder as the MP3.
- You can also enter paths and patterns, such as "C: \ Cover \% Artist% -% Album%" and then save all covers with the file name "Artist - Album.webp".
- Possible file extensions for covers are, for example, JPG, GIG, PNG and BMP.
