Chrome: Disable automatic downloads - how it works
If you are disrupting the automatic downloads from Google Chrome, you can deactivate this in the settings. Then you decide yourself which download should be saved when and where. In our instructions, we will guide you through the individual steps.
Disable automatic download of files in Google Chrome
- In the Chrome browser, select the three horizontally arranged menu bars at the top right.
- Then click on the "Settings" entry.
- Scroll down and expand the large menu by clicking on the "Show advanced settings" option.
- The "Downloads" item now appears below: Check the box "Ask about the location before downloading files".
- The new settings are saved automatically and you will be asked if and where you want to save the file before each download.
