Chrome: Disable autoplay
If autoplay is activated in Google Chrome, videos and advertising will start automatically. This practical tip shows you how to deactivate the function.

- Start Google Chrome and open the menu with the button with the three dashes in the top right.
- Click on "Settings" and scroll down to the bottom of the settings window. Here click on "Show advanced settings".
- Scroll to "Privacy" and click on "Content Settings".
- Scroll to "Plug-ins" in the new window. Here are the key options: Check "Detect and run important plug-in content" to let Chrome choose, or "Choose when to run plug-in content" to start videos manually to be able to.
- With the button "Manage exceptions" you can set exceptions and allow or prohibit certain websites from running automatic videos.
- Then click on "Apply". Now automatic playback of videos in Google Chrome is blocked.
