Chrome doesn't recognize Chromecast - so you can solve the problem
Sometimes it happens that Google's Chrome browser does not recognize the Chromecast streaming stick. Then a "secret" setting may fix the problem. However, it is deeply hidden in Chrome’s experimental options.
"No cast recipients found" - you can do that
If you click on the cast extension or the "Stream" menu item in Chrome and the error message "No cast recipients found" shown in the image appears, you should first follow the instructions in this practical tip. If the solutions mentioned there (reset Chromecast; make sure that PC and stick are in the same network etc.) do not work, you can try the following trick:
- Open a new tab in Chrome and enter in the address bar: chrome: // flags / # load-media-router-component-extension
- This will open Chrome’s “experimental” options.
- In the "Load Media Router Component Extension" area, change the dropdown from "Default Settings" to "Enabled" (see figure).
- Now close and restart Chrome and check if your Chromecast is now found.
- If so, you can switch the media router setting back to "standard settings".
This tip applies to Chrome 57.0.2987.133. You can learn how to set up and activate guest mode in Chromecast in the next article.
