Sync Chrome with Firefox - so it'll work
Syncing Chrome and Firefox is not that easy. However, we will show you how to keep the passwords and bookmarks of the two browsers in sync.
Step 1: Password synchronization in Firefox and Chrome
With the add-on "LastPass" you have your passwords always at hand in both browsers.
- Download and install the add-on. It is automatically added for both browsers.
- During the installation you have to create an account on which all passwords are managed.
- If you have already saved passwords using cookies, you can import them.
- Another function: the automatic filling of forms, which you only have to configure quickly.
- After successful installation, an asterisk is displayed in the top right the next time you start your browser. As soon as you click on it, all functions of "LastPass" will be displayed.
Step 2: synchronization of bookmarks in Chrome and Firefox
With the free tool "Xmarks" (Chrome / Firefox) you can easily synchronize your bookmarks:
- Download and install the add-on. Instructions for this can be found here for Firefox and for Chrome.
- Then restart both browsers and switch to the "Add-ons" menu in Firefox. To do this, click on the menu button at the top right.
- Under Chrome you also have to click on the three horizontal lines in the top right, then on "Tools" and finally "Extensions".
- Search for "Xmarks" in both browsers and click on "Options". In the new window, select "Run Setup Wizard" or "Start setup wizard".
- In Firefox, click "Create an Account"; in Chrome, however, on "No, create an account for me". Confirm by clicking on "Next".
- Then enter your data. Accept the data by clicking "Create Account" in Firefox and "Next" in Chrome.
- Then switch back to the extensions as described in steps 2 and 3. Click the "Synchronize Now" or "Synchronize Now" button here. Your bookmarks will then be synchronized by both browsers.
