Chrome: delete URL suggestions - Here's how
By default, Chrome completes your entries in the address bar. This guide shows you how to delete the individual URL suggestions.
Remove individual URL suggestions in Chrome
If you just want to remove a suggestion from the URL bar in Google Chrome, a keyboard shortcut will help you:
- First enter the URL in the address bar so that the proposal appears.
- Mark the unwanted prediction with the arrow keys and press the [Shift] + [Del] keys. On Mac, use the key combination [Shift] + [Fn] + [Del].
Google Chrome: completely disable suggestions in the address bar
If you don't want to receive any URL suggestions at all, you can completely deactivate the function in Chrome:
- Click on the menu icon with the three horizontal lines at the top right and select "Settings".
- A new tab opens. Click on the link "Show advanced settings ..." below.
- In the "Privacy" section, remove the checkmark next to "Use the service to complete search queries and URLs that are entered in the address bar or the search bar of the App Launcher".
- If you want your previously visited websites to disappear from the URL suggestions, you can finally delete the history and no longer create a new history.
