Use Chromecast on a projector - is that possible?
If you want to use your Chromecast stick not only on the TV but also on the projector, this is not a problem. We'll show you how it's done and what disadvantages you have to accept.
Use Chromecast on the projector: advantages and disadvantages at a glance
The Chromecast works the same on a projector as it does on a TV - just plug it into the appropriate HDMI port. We will show you how to set up the stick afterwards in our CHIP article. Please note: There are only minor restrictions when using the projector.
- Note that you can power the Chromecast stick on TV directly via USB. There are usually no USB ports on the projector that are able to supply the Chromecast with the required power. You will need the supplied power pack on the projector.
- Since a projector usually produces a much larger picture than a television set, there can also be quality restrictions. The Chromecast has a maximum resolution of 720p. This is usually still very sharp on the television, but you have to expect higher losses on the projector.
- Conclusion: The Chromecast stick can also be easily operated on a projector. All you need is the additional power supply. Even if current projectors often have a resolution of 1080p, the Chromecast can only deliver 720p. The result remains good, but could be better.
