Instructions: Use Chromecast also with Firefox
After long years of waiting, there is finally an easy way to stream videos on the Chromecast using Firefox. However, please note that this is an unofficial software that is still in the beta phase. Currently only videos from HTML5 players and DRM-free content work. YouTube is not yet supported.
- To enable Chromecast support in Firefox, just download the free tool FX_Cast.
- Open the file and install the program. Nothing happens after the installation.
- To use the software, you still need the browser add-on. To do this, open the developer's website.
- Download the latest version of the XPI file here. The current file name is "fx_cast-0.0.3-fx.xpi".
- Firefox automatically asks if you want to install the add-on in the browser. Confirm the process.
- The Google Cast symbol then appears in the top right of the browser.
- Open a website with a video and click the cast button above. Alternatively, right-click on the video and select the "Cast" option.
- A small window then opens, in which you have to confirm the transfer again.
- If neither option works, FX_Cast is unfortunately not yet able to stream this type of video to the Chromecast.
