Using Chromecast with Safari - is that possible?
If you want to use the Chromecast stick on Mac OS X with the Safari browser, this is unfortunately not possible. We'll show you how to use Chromecast on your Mac anyway.
Mac OS: Chromecast only runs on Chrome, not Safari
To operate Chromecast on Mac, you need at least Mac OS X version 10.7. The Chromecast stick should already be set up on the TV.
- First, download Google Chrome for Mac OS and install the browser. You also need the Chromecast app.
- Open Finder and move the downloaded Chromecast app to the "Applications" folder.
- You can now start the Chromecast app there. Select your device and click the "Setup" button.
- Now follow the further instructions until the Mac and the Chromecast stick are fully set up.
- You will then find the Chromecast symbol in the top right of the Chrome browser, which can be used, for example, to transfer the current tab.
