Chromium is the open source brother of Chrome and offers almost identical functions. Due to its popularity, many users install the browser on Linux systems. In this practical tip, we will show you how to install and set up Chromium on Windows or Ubuntu.
Install and set up Chromium on Windows
Even if Chromium is not very common on Windows PCs, you can install and set it up on this operating system. We'll show you how.
- First download Chromium from our download area.
- You now have a zip file called "chrome-win32.zip". Extract this file into a folder of your choice.
- Open the extracted folder and click on "chrome.exe"
- To set up, you can log in with your Google account (if you want) and download your favorite tools. Since Chromium is built more or less like the classic Chrome browser, all extensions that also run under Google Chrome work.
