Uninstall Chromium completely - Here's how
Since Chromium is not installed under Windows, but only loaded, you have to uninstall the browser manually. We show you how this works and what you can do if problems arise.
Instructions: Uninstall Chromium completely
- Chromium is not a classic browser that you need to install on Windows. Instead, download the tool as a ZIP file from the Internet and then unzip it. The extracted folder has the name "chrome-win32".
- Find the folder and delete it as usual using Windows Explorer. In most cases, the folder was placed on your desktop or in the downloads.
- If you can't find the folder, enter "chrome" in the lower left corner of the Start menu and select the blue Chrome icon with the right mouse button. Via the "Open storage location" option, you can access the folder and then delete it.
Chromium cannot be uninstalled - what to do?
If Chromium is currently running in the background, the program cannot be removed completely. Windows denies the operation.
- In this case, open the Task Manager by holding down the [Ctrl] + [Shift] + [Esc] keys.
- Search for the "chromium" process here and right-click on it.
- With the "End task" option, Chromium is completely closed and can now also be removed.

Download tip: Uninstall software completely
If you are looking for software that can be used to completely uninstall programs, we have two recommendations for you.
