Cinema 4D: Show and hide objects - how it works
In this tutorial, we explain step by step how you can show and hide objects in the Cinema 4D graphics software. This is useful, for example, if you want to finish modeling details on 3D bodies.
Cinema 4D: Show and hide objects
- Start Cinema 4D and open the file in which various objects are to be hidden.
- In the level catalog you will find one larger and two smaller gray dots behind each of your objects (see screenshot). The gray color of the two smaller dots means that the visibility is not defined. If you click on the upper gray dot for your specific object, the color changes to green. You have now defined the selected object as visible.
- If you want to hide the respective object now, you must click the green dot again. The color changes from green to red and the object is then hidden in the editor (see screenshot: car rim has been hidden).
- While the upper gray dot is responsible for the work editor, the lower gray dot behind your object is responsible for the Cinema 4D internal renderer. Again, the colors have the same function as for the editor.
- In the example shown in the screenshot, the car rim in the editing editor is hidden according to the color red, but is ultimately still displayed in the renderer by the lower green dot.
- Alternatively, you can also select your object and set the visibility for your editor or renderer individually under the layer catalog under the BasicTap. This allows you to control and manage the visibility of the object for the two modes independently of one another.
