OneDrive cloud storage: what are the costs?
If the 7 GB of free storage in Microsoft's OneDrive cloud program is not enough for you, you can simply expand the available storage space. This practical tip shows you how much that costs and how you can get another 8 GB of free storage.
Add one drive space for free
As a new customer, OneDrive currently gives you 7 GB of free storage. If you were already a customer of the predecessor Skydrive, you have 25 GB available.
- When you invite friends to OneDrive, you get up to 5 gigabytes of storage.
- If you activate the automatic photo upload on your mobile devices, you will even receive an additional 3 GB for free.
Buy more cloud storage - that's how much OneDrive costs
If this 15 GB of free storage is not enough for you, you can buy additional storage. To do this, click on "Manage storage" in the left column and on "Request storage" to select the size of the extension from the list. The costs depend on the size of the package:
- 50 GB costs 19 euros a year
- 100 GB costs 37 euros per year
- and you get 200 GB for 74 euros per year (as of June 2014)
This practical tip shows you how you can prevent OneDrive from starting automatically when Windows 8.1 starts.
