Commerzbank's photoTAN procedure - how to set it up
To take part in the photoTAN process, you need either the free photoTAN app for Android or the photoTAN app for iOS. You can download both from us.
- To set up photoTAN in your online banking app, open the main menu, which you can find at the bottom left. There you select Personal Area . Under the heading Digital Banking you choose the option Administration: PIN, TAN, user name .
- After you have clicked on the TAN settings, click the Setup button behind photoTAN. If you have already installed the photoTAN app, skip the next point. Finally, confirm your details by clicking the Share button.
- If you would also like to purchase a reading device for around 30 euros, go to Device Management. However, the reader is optional, the app is sufficient for photoTAN processes.
- In the coming days, the financial institution will send you a letter with a photoTAN graphic. You have 180 days to activate the photoTAN process.
- Note: In order to be able to scan the graphic with the photoTAN, the right to take pictures and films must be activated in the app.
- Scan the graphic on the activation letter with the photoTAN app. Once the app has scanned the graphic correctly, all you have to do is enter your online banking access data.
- Tip: You can also set up the photoTAN process on the Commerzbank website.
- Once you have set up the photoTAN process, you will receive an image for each transfer that you can scan with the Commerzbank app. The most important transfer details and the TAN are then displayed in the photoTAN app. If everything is correct, finally release the transfer with the digital TAN for further processing.
Commerzbank's digital TANs - the mobile TAN for online banking

- The Commerzbank sends the mobileTAN to your smartphone via SMS. However, the mobileTAN is not free of charge. The bank charges you twelve cents for each mobileTAN you use.
