Monitor computers - Here's how
You can monitor your computer while you are away. This ensures that no one will use it during this time without your permission - and if you do, you will have the necessary evidence. Here we present two methods.
Monitor computers with Windows tools
With the "Event Viewer" Windows has its own tools on board with which you can track system events. When the computer was switched on or switched off, which applications were started, everything is logged. You can now use these protocols for yourself.
- Click on "Start" at the bottom left and then go to "Control Panel".
- In the "Search Control Panel" search box at the top right, type "Administrative Tools".
- Click on "Administration". In the next window, select the "Event Viewer".
- Double-click on "Windows protocols" in the left box and then click on the "System" sub-item. In the middle you can scroll through and get a lot of information. These are provided with the time and a description of what happened there. If events are listed at a time when your computer should have been off, there was probably someone on your PC.
Monitor the system with a keylogger
You can get even more detailed results of what happened to your PC during your absence with a keylogger. With this you can also:
- Have screenshots taken.
- Track the keystrokes.
- View the websites, programs and more that are called up in a summarized log.
- The programs are clearer than the Windows own function.
Find the right keylogger for the PC
If you want to install a keylogger on your computer, there are several options.
- Refog Free Keylogger (Freeware): Records all activities, but does not have an automatic screenshot function.
- Refog Personal Monitor (from 70 euros): This purchase version includes the screenshot function and various other settings.
- Keylogger ($ 30): Records keystrokes.
- Revealer Keylogger Free: takes screenshots and records keyboard inputs.
The practical test relates to the Windows 7 operating system. Please note that use on third-party computers without the owner's consent is not permitted and is therefore punishable.
