Connection broker - what is it?
The Connection Broker is an essential part of virtual desktop infrastructures. We'll show you exactly what he's doing.
The Connection Broker can do that
The connection broker is not necessarily an essential part of a virtual desktop infrastructure, but you can usually find it there. Such VDIs are mainly used in large companies.
- With a virtual desktop infrastructure, individual applications or the entire operating system are stored on a server. For example, it is possible that every employee can work under the same conditions from every computer, or that changes can only be made to the server and not to every individual PC.
- The Connection Broker ensures the correct distribution of the individual remote accesses of the users. So each user only receives the data on the server that is also assigned to his account. A so-called virtual machine always starts for such an account.
- The Connection Broker also ensures that these virtual machines are created or switched off if necessary. If several servers are available, the connection broker can also optimally distribute the load among the individual servers.
- In short: A connection broker ensures that applications or the entire operating system on the server are transferred to the individual computers.
