Convertible ultrabooks are more versatile than normal notebooks. However, you often have to compromise on performance. We compare the best known three models with their strengths and weaknesses.
Convertible Ultrabook "IdeaPad Yoga 2" from Lenovo
With the convertible ultrabook "IdeaPad Yoga2" from Lenovo you can fold the display onto the back of the device. In this form it can be used as a tablet. The notebook is aimed at students and young professionals.
- Extremely sharp display: The "IdeaPad Yoga" is available in four versions. You can choose between 11.6 and 13.3 inches. No matter what size, the displays offer you the outstandingly large resolution of 3200x1800 pixels. This size corresponds to almost 1.5 times the known Full HD standard.
- Processor: Here you have the choice between an Intel Core i7 and an Intel Core i5. These are dual-core processors, but should have enough power for all tasks except games.
- RAM: The RAM can be equipped with up to 8 GB.
- Hard disk: Here you have the choice between a 256 GB and 512 GB SSD.
- Battery: The runtime of the device is between 5 and 8 hours
- The Lenovo IdeaPad Yoga touchpad only offers you touch input with your finger. You can use finger-emulating pens, but you shouldn't buy the convertible ultrabook for writing.
Can also be used with a pen: The "Sony VAIO Duo 13"
The "Sony VAIO Duo 13" convertible ultrabook gives you the opportunity to write with a digitizer pen. You don't have to turn it all the way, just fold it in to use it as a tablet. The Sony Ultrabook is intended for professional use in the office.
- Standard display: Here, too, Sony offers you a display size of 13.3 inches with Full HD resolution.
- Processor: The Intel Core i7 clocks slightly lower than that of the Lenovo. You don't need to worry about Ruckler in processors of this class.
- RAM: The device is also delivered with 8 GB RAM.
- Hard disk: The Sony Vaio Duo 13 lacks the option to upgrade the memory. So you should be satisfied with 256 GB.
- Battery: The runtime is very long with up to 11 hours and lasts an entire working day
- The important feature of the Sony Vaio Duo 13 is writing with the pen. You can use this convertible ultrabook as a digital notebook.
Mixes Ultrabook with tablet: "HP EliteBook Revolve 810" convertible
With the Convertible Ultrabook from HP, you will learn a third type of conversion. The display can simply be turned around for tablet operation. This is also useful if you want to show your neighbors something on your computer. With its high safety standards, it is intended for demanding users at work.
- Weak but stable display: The screen of the HP Ultrabook has a size of 11.6 inches with a resolution of 1366 x 768 pixels. It is actually long outdated and should get an update from HP. However, Gorrilla Glass 2 was used here, the same unbreakable glass that is also used in smartphone production.
- Processor: Again, you have the choice between an Intel Core i5 and a 4th generation Intel Core i7.
- RAM: The HP Convertible is delivered with 4 or 8 GB RAM, but can be expanded up to 12 GB.
- Hard disk: With a 256 GB SSD, the Ultrabook's memory is relatively small.
- Battery: The EliteBook only has a battery life of approx. 6 hours when working normally with office programs.
- The touchscreen of the display recognizes inputs with up to ten fingers at the same time, but you cannot write with a digitizer pen.
