Counter Strike is available on Linux. We'll show you how to install and play the popular first person shooter on Ubuntu.
Install Steam on Linux to play Counter Strike
Valve has recently released its game client "Steam" for the Linux Ubuntu platform.
- First install "Steam" on your Linux computer. Make sure that you download and install the Steam version available for Linux.
- Log in to the game clients and look for "Counter-Strike" in your library. If you have not purchased Counter-Strike as a Windows version, you must first do this in order to play the game on Ubuntu.
- Download "Counter-Strike" and install the Linux version. You can then start and play the game, provided all drivers for Linux have been installed.
Valve will also use Linux for its "Steam Box". If you want to know what the "Steam Box" should be like, follow the link below.
