CPU too hot - what to do?
If your CPU gets too hot you should do something urgently - we will show you what you can do immediately.
1. CPU too hot - check fan
If the CPU gets too hot, it is usually due to poor cooling. First and foremost, this means that something is wrong with your fan or that your computer is too close to the wall or the desk. If the fan cannot draw enough air, your computer quickly overheats.
- Place the computer far enough away from walls or the desk to ensure an adequate supply of fresh air.
- Check your fan. It may be blocked and therefore cannot draw enough air. You can also carefully remove dust from the fan with a vacuum cleaner.
2. Support CPU fan - install additional fan
If it is not your fan and your CPU is still running, it is advisable to install another fan.
- Tip: You can temporarily place a fan in front of or next to your computer that supports the fan. If you screw the housing on the side, the fan can cool even better.
3. Let the CPU cool down - take breaks
In the case of particularly heavy use, you should make sure that you take a break and let the computer and especially the CPU cool down.
- It helps to let the computer cool down in standby.
If the heat problem persists, it may also be due to a hardware defect. In this case, only going to a specialist may help. If you have the problem of a CPU that is too hot on your laptop, you can clean your laptop fan.
