Buying a curved monitor: three good models
Curved monitors not only look chic, but are also mostly technical wonders. Our comparison shows which models you can safely buy. We took a closer look at three good TFTs and compared them.
3rd place: Curved monitor LG Electronics 29UC97-S in the check
The LG Electronics 29UC97-S is a true all-rounder. Thanks to its large image area, high resolution and low power consumption, the curved TFT is suitable for almost any application.
- Display: LG's curved monitor fills its 29 inches with a resolution of 2, 560 x 1, 080 pixels. Thanks to the popular 21: 9 format, the device is perfect for gamers and film fans. The brightness can also convince with 315 candelas per square meter and the contrast is also above the average with 1, 185: 1. It doesn't get much better than this.
- Equipment: The LG Electronics 29UC97-S offers two HDMI inputs and a DisplayPort. There is also a stable base, which unfortunately cannot be adjusted in height. A pivot function is also missing. After all, the power consumption is pleasantly low.
- Price: You can get the LG Electronics 29UC97-S from around 500 euros.
2nd place: Samsung S27E510C in curved design
At first glance, the Samsung S27E510C does not look as elegant as the competition from LG, but the curved TFT can still convince on the data sheet. Here Samsung relies on a good balance between equipment and price.
- Display: The Samsung S27E510C has a screen size of 27 inches and resolves with Full HD (1, 920 x 1, 080 pixels). The static contrast of 3000: 1 is well above average and the response times of 4 milliseconds will make gamers happy.
- Equipment: You can connect devices to the curved TFT via HDMI and VGA. Unfortunately, there is also no pivot function here, which is why the monitor is only of limited use for graphic designers. Samsung keeps the power consumption in a moderate range.
- Price: The Samsung S27E510C currently costs around 300 euros.
1st place: LG 34UC87-B turns onto the winner's podium
With a strong image, good equipment and chic design, the LG 34UC87-B secures victory in our comparison. However, the manufacturer can pay dearly for the good hardware.
- Display: For the 34UC87-B, LG uses a small screen diagonal with a high pixel density. The TFT monitor measures only 34 inches, but offers an outstanding resolution of 3, 440 x 1, 440 pixels. There are also great brightness values of 255 candelas per square meter, a good contrast of 955: 1 and a short response time of just 5 milliseconds.
- Equipment: Like almost all LG devices, the 34UC87-B has two HDMI inputs and a display port. The manufacturer does not use a VGA connection. Particularly good: you can turn the stand freely and adjust its height. However, graphic designers will also miss the pivot function here. The power consumption is also pleasantly low here.
- Price: The Curved TFT LG 34U87-B is available from around 830 euros.
