Use CyberGhost on Fire TV - Here's how
You can use the VPN service CyberGhost not only on the PC but also on many other devices such as the Fire TV. With this, however, the installation is only possible via a small detour. We'll show you how to do it.
Installation of CyberGhost on the Fire TV
After installing CyberGhost, your internet connection runs over a so-called virtual private network or in short: VPN. This allows you to disguise your identity on the one hand and bypass regional locks on the other. CyberGhost has its own Android app, but it cannot be obtained from the Amazon App Store. You must therefore install the app via sideload.
- Start your Fire TV or Fire TV Stick and open the "Settings".
- Go to the "Device" area and go to the "Developer Options".
- Set the items "ADB debugging" and "Apps of unknown origin" to "On".
- Start the free "Downloader" app on your Fire TV. You may have to download them from the Amazon App Store beforehand.
- Now search for a secure source for CyberGhost sideload on your PC. You can find the necessary APK file at APKMirror. First select the latest program version there.
- Right-click on the "Download APK" button and copy the address of the link to the clipboard.
- Paste the URL from the clipboard into a word processor for better readability and then type it into the address field of the downloader on the Fire TV. Confirm with OK".
- Tip: If you shorten the URL beforehand, it will be much faster.
- Once the download is complete, install CyberGhost on your Fire TV.
- You can now start CyberGhost and configure it according to your requirements.
- Note that the CyberGhost app is unfortunately not optimized for the FireTV. If you have problems controlling the remote control, you should use an additional Android app such as Remote Mouse for Fire TV.
If you are unsatisfied with CyberGhost, there are of course many other providers. In our next practical tip you will find the 5 best VPN alternatives.
