D-Link: Reset router - how it works
If your D-Link router no longer works or if you have forgotten the password for the user interface, you must reset the device. This works on all models with the reset button on the back. You can then log in with a standard login and reconfigure the router.
Reset D-Link router to factory settings
First remove all cables except the power cable from the router.
- There is a reset button on the back. This is usually marked with the word "Reset". On some models, the button is located in a small hole next to the power connector, so you can only operate it with an open paper clip or a ballpoint pen.
- Press the button, if necessary with an open paper clip, for at least 10 seconds and then release it.
- The router should now restart and is then reset to the factory settings.
Set up the D-Link router again
- You can access the user interface of your router by entering 192.168.0.1 in the address line of your browser and confirming with Enter.
- Enter "admin" as the user name. Leave the password field blank or enter "admin" as well.
