D-Netz and E-Netz - What is the difference?
You can use the D-Netz and E-Netz with your smartphone and iPhone. In this practical tip, we show what makes the difference between the two networks.
D-Netz or E-Netz - that's the difference
- The D network is the older of the two Deutsche Telekom networks. The D network uses the 900 MHz frequency range, while the E network operates in the 1, 800 MHz frequency range.
- In terms of radio mast capacity, the e-network is ahead, so that significantly more e-network users can use the radio masts at the same time than in the d-network. However, the range of the D-Netz radio masts is significantly higher.
- The two networks also differ in terms of consumption. Your smartphone consumes a maximum of one watt in the e-network, while in the d-network you can also expect two watts.
- You won't notice any of these differences in big cities. There it is completely irrelevant whether you use the D network or the E network on your mobile phone.
- In rural and very remote areas, the situation is usually different: you often have better reception there with the D network.
