Can I take soap from the hotel? You have to know that
Many hotels delight their guests with nice little things, such as pretty soap that seduces you to take away. However, this does not necessarily mean that you are allowed to do this. We clarify you in the following article.
Take soap out of the hotel - that's the legal position
Various small things that are in hotel rooms, in particular hygiene articles and writing utensils, often seem to find their way into their suitcases on their own upon departure.
- In fact, items like soap or shampoo are the things that are most often taken away from hotel rooms. Although this is actually a benevolent phrase.
- From a legal point of view, taking it with you, even if it's just a small bar of soap, is theft.
- That means taking soap or shampoo out of the hotel could have legal consequences. The prerequisite would, of course, be for the hotel to file a complaint, but this will hardly happen for obvious reasons. Otherwise, you would still have a very good chance that the procedure would be dropped due to insignificance.
- Just take the hotel soap as inspiration and make your own soap.
Clean the World - a project that deserves your support
Even if you probably don't have to fear legal conferences, there is still a very good reason not to take the hygiene items with you. This also has a name: Clean the World.
- Clean the World is a really good idea and a great project that deserves to be supported. It was launched in 2009 by the American Shawn Seipler.
- The idea is actually quite simple: all the hygiene items left in the hotels are collected and recycled. With soap, for example, the surface used is first scraped off. Then the soaps are chopped into small pieces and processed into new soap bars.
- After the hygiene products have gone through the recycling process, they begin their journey to a wide variety of developing countries. There they are distributed free of charge.
- The idea behind it is less cosmetic than health. To properly clean the hands, they must be washed thoroughly with soap. If you wash your hands thoroughly with soap for 30 seconds, almost all bacteria are killed. The outbreak of dangerous infectious diseases can at least be somewhat contained in affected countries.
- If you would like to know whether your hotel is participating in the Clean the World campaign or maybe even choose your accommodation based on this aspect, simply have a look at the organization's website. All participating hotels are listed there.
Of course, thorough hand washing is also important to us. We have described what you need to consider when disinfecting your hands in a separate article.
