Make glow gin yourself - how it works
Christmas is just around the corner - and with it lots of delicacies such as speculoos, gingerbread and mulled wine. However, the latter is facing strong competition this year. Because glow-gin is considered the in-drink 2019. It is a hot drink based on fruity gin. The whole thing is refined - as with mulled wine - with various spices. For two glasses of glow gin you need:
- Four centiliters of gin (best with a low alcohol content and a low juniper aroma; it is particularly Christmassy with a gin with notes of cinnamon and orange)
- 350 milliliters of apple juice
- Three organic oranges
- Eight cloves
- Two cinnamon sticks
- Three-centimeter piece of fresh ginger
Instructions: How to cook the glow gin
When you have all the ingredients together, it's time to prepare them.
- Rub the peel of an organic orange thinly. Then squeeze all three oranges.
- Peel the piece of ginger and cut it into thin slices.
- Place the orange juice together with the apple juice, cloves, cinnamon sticks, ginger slices and the grated orange peel in a saucepan.
- Heat the drink on medium heat for about 15 to 20 minutes. Make sure it doesn't boil.
- Fill the heated drink in two glasses or cups and add two centiliters of gin each (more or less if you like).
- If you want, you can garnish the whole thing with orange slices and cinnamon sticks.
