You can use the command prompt (CMD) in Windows to create and delete files. We show you exactly how this works in this manual.
CMD: Create file - this is how you proceed
We use an example to show you how to create a file with CMD. We will create a text file "test.txt" that contains the text "Hello" and place it on the desktop.
- Start the command prompt: Open the Run window with [Win] + [R], enter "cmd" and confirm with [Enter].
- Now navigate to the desired folder, in our example to the desktop.
- You can now create the text file with the "copy con" command. Enter "copy con test.txt" and confirm with [[Enter].
- Now you can type the text into the file. In our example we write "Hello".
- Finally save the file with the key combination [Ctrl] + [Z].
CMD: delete file
- To delete a file, type "del" followed by the location and file name.
- The text file just created can be deleted with the command "del C: \ Users \ user \ desktop \ test.txt".
- Confirm the command with [Enter].
