Export file names to Word documents - how it works
You can easily export file names to a Word document. How to quickly create a list of all the data in a specific folder.
How to export file names to a Word document
Instead of writing the file names by hand, you can also export them via the command line:
- In Windows, click on "Start" at the bottom left and then "Run". Alternatively, press the key combination [Windows] + [R].
- Start the command prompt by entering the "cmd" command and pressing the [Enter] key.
- In the console window, use the "cd location" command to change the location of the files you want to export. Replace the "Location" variable with the respective folder path, for example "Desktop \ Documents".
- With the command "dir / b> namen.doc" you save the file names of the respective folder in which you are currently in the file "namen.doc". You can also change this file name as you like.
- Finally, navigate with the Explorer in the respective folder and open the created file with Microsoft Word.
If you want several folders in one file, you can merge the Word documents later. This practical tip is based on Microsoft Windows 7 and Word 2010.
