- The transfer is possible both via USB hard drive and via the home network. If you use an external hard drive, you can progress faster with USB 3.0. If you use the home network, you should connect both consoles to the router using a LAN cable to enable faster transmission.
- Before you transfer your data, you should carry out a firmware update on both consoles.

- If you connect the external hard drive to the old Xbox One, the hard drive will be formatted automatically.
- Open "Settings" and select the "Storage" category under "System".
- Under "Internal storage" you can now select all the data you want to transfer to the Xbox One X.
- You can either just copy the selected data or transfer it completely to the hard drive and thus remove it from the console.
- Now switch to "Backup and transfer" in the "System" category and select the "Save settings" option.
- Once this is complete, you can remove the hard drive from Xbox One.
- Now connect the hard drive to the switched off Xbox One X and start the console.
- Xbox One X automatically recognizes the data and transfers it.
Method 2: transfer data to Xbox One X over home network
