Delete data completely with cipher
With the Windows tool "Cipher" you can completely delete your data. In contrast to the conventional deletion process, the documents are initially sent to the trash, but are then completely overwritten. This makes recovery almost impossible.
Deleting data with cipher - how it works
- Delete all data as usual and then empty the trash.
- Then exit all programs and press the Windows key + [R] to start the prompt.
- Now enter "CMD" and click on Ok. Then you have to type "cipher / F: i: \" in the new window and confirm with Enter.
- In this case, F would be the volume to be deleted. For F you can also specify your hard disk.
