Firefox Send: alternative to file sharing
With Firefox Send, Mozilla offers a file sharing alternative that allows you to quickly and easily send larger files to contacts.
- In contrast to most file sharing providers, you do not have to register for this. You can get started right away and send files up to one gigabyte in size.
- When you register, you have the option to attach files up to 2.5 gigabytes in size.
- Registration also allows you to change other settings.
- This way, you can store files sent online after registration for up to 7 days (instead of just one day without registration).
- You can also set a download limit. This means that files can only be downloaded once or up to 100 times before the link is deactivated.
- Both with and without registration, you can protect your uploads with a password.
Use Firefox Send: How it works
First start the Firefox Send WebApp. This works not only in Firefox, but also in other popular browsers such as Chrome and Opera.
- Even without logging in, you can upload a file up to a gigabyte in size.
- However, if you want to upload larger files, you can quickly register using the "Login / Register" button.
- Enter your email and then your password. If you have not yet registered, you must confirm your registration. You will receive an email directly for this.
- After logging in, you can use the "Select files to upload" button to select your desired files. You can also drop your attachments using drag and drop.
- After the file is selected, you can choose a password. If you are logged in you also have larger download limits.
- Click the "Upload" button to upload the file. You will then be presented with a link that leads to this file.
- You can now send this to your contacts in the desired way - for example by email or Whatsapp.
