Giving away data volume - is that possible?
Data volume is particularly scarce among younger smartphone owners, but mom and dad often still have to give away data volume. In this practical tip, we will tell you whether this is even possible.
Giving away data volume: Vodafone and O2 make it possible
You cannot currently give away your data volume from every provider. Only Vodafone and O2 are pioneers in this area:
- With Vodafone you can give away data volumes using the "GIGA Sharing" function. GIGA Sharing is primarily worthwhile for families. The only requirement for this is a Vodafone Red tariff that one of your family members has.
- If you book the Red + option in the Red tariff, you can order up to five additional SIM cards for € 15 a month each. Each SIM card has its own SMS and telephone flat. You must distribute the data volume from your Red tariff independently between you and all other users in the family.
- If you are a customer of O2, you can also give away your excess data volume. You can give gifts not only to family and friends, but to every O2 customer with a reasonably current contract. With the "O2 Banking" function, the data volume is simply transferred via the associated app.
If you are still with another provider, you should plan your data volume carefully. In the next practical tip, we will show you how to save data volume on Android.
