In this practical tip we explain the most important functions of color grading at DaVinci Resolve.
DaVinci Resolve: Color Grading
Go to the Color Grading section in DaVinci Resolve by pressing the color wheel icon at the bottom center.
- On the far left you will find the "Camera RAW" section, where you can, for example, change the sharpness.
- To the right is the "Color Match" function, which you can use to edit the color of the video.
- With the "Color Wheels" you can edit the colors of the video. The contrast can also be changed here, for example.
- The "RGB Mixer" works in a similar way, with which you can have a certain color "stand out".
- Motion Effects applies various effects, such as motion blur, to the video.
- To the right of this is the "Curves" section, where you have a color curve for editing the video.
- In the "Qualifier" section you can filter out certain colors. This is useful, for example, with green screens.
- With "Window" you can cut out a certain section of the video. Objects can also be filtered out here, for example.
- You will also find the "Tracker" function, which you can use to track and edit a specific area in the video. With this function, for example, the faces of actors can be brightened.
- Blur allows you to add blur to your video.
- The "Key" section is also very practical for the selection of colors and screen areas.
- With the "Sizing" function you can rotate or scale your video.
- Finally, you can use the "3D" section for your own 3D videos.
- So that the individual functions do not interfere with each other, add so-called "nodes". You can then use the functions independently of one another.
